Urban Hydroculture
Unique accessories for tabletop hydroponic systems such as the AeroGarden™ and Kratky Method designed, crafted, and shipped in America.
Sustainable Concepts
Founded in early 2020 we set out with a simple mission of bringing reusable 3D printed tabletop hydroponic accessories to the market. Our goal was to increase accessibility to our unique creations while cutting down on rampant single plastics use that has become common in the hydroponic industry. Using input from social media groups from across the web we have created a product line of both AeroGarden™ and Kratky product accessories. Since our conception we have branched out into other manufacturing methods such as laser cutting and plastic injection molding. As a small business based in Chevy Chase, MD we proudly design, produce, package, and ship our products in America.
These Aerogarden Pod Covers are replacements for the paper covers that come with default Aerogarden Pods. This product is printed in flexible filament and is reusable! The cover on the pod is essential, as the transparent plastic allows for light to leak into the water reservoir which can create algae growth. These covers are suited for all Aerogarden users who grow other things in their Aerogarden besides the default pods! Please also note that moisture covers will sit on top of the pods, but it is not recommend you use these pod covers while attempting to germinate seeds. The flexible material will allow the covers to bend if the base stem of your plant grows larger than the 15mm (.6") hole. These covers are 3D printed on a Lulzbot TAZ with flexible filament, not all printers are equipped to do this!
This is a set of three laser-cut lids for a wide-mouth Mason/Ball jar (86mm) that fits and secures the unique shape of an AeroGarden pod. Mason jars are not included in this listing. The Kratky lid is made of acrylic which is food safe. These lids are reusable and can be easily washed with dish soap and air dried. The lid is black; thus it blocks most light from above from making it into the jar. Light still can enter from the sides of a clear jar. Amber or black painted jars are recommended. AeroGarden pods are often moved to a Kratky system when a plant is too large or is creating a canopy with leaves that prevent smaller plants from being able to access light, or if you have a slow starting plant that needs its own light source to catch up with the rest of your AeroGarden plants. The Kratky system can also help prevent root shock and allow a plant to harden if you intend to transfer your plant to soil from an AeroGarden system.
Our waterdams cover unused pod slots and block light from hitting your water basin. Meanwhile they redirect water flow to the pods that are being used in an AeroGarden. Our design brings a new level of functionality to AeroGarden plant spacers! Rather than just covering an empty pod slot, these spacers come with a water dam that both blocks the water spout on an empty AeroGarden pod slot and ensures a secure (yet easy to remove) fit. Using these spacers will ensure that precious water and resources will be distributed to only those slots that you are using and block light from entering the water basin at the same time! The stylish and durable 3D printed spacer features the leaf design from our logo.
